Uche Jombo Talks About Her Upcoming Movie, HOLDING HOPE

In the Nigerian Film Industry aka Nollywood, Uche Jombo is a person that needs no introduction. In fact one can’t mention the top 5 most popular female actresses in Nigeria without mentioning Uche’s name. With a lot of film credits in her kitty which include: Games Men Play, The Celebrity, Perfect Planner, A Time to Love, Be My Wife, Girls In the Hood, Price of Fame etc, Uche has also delved into the world of movie production with the newly released comedy NOLLYWOOD HUSTLER being her first shot at being a movie producer. No doubt, Uche Jombo is fast becoming one of the most prolific actresses and nollywood personalities in Nigeria.

In this exclusive interview with Nollywood Viewer, Uche talks about her upcoming movie, HOLDING HOPE. Enjoy!

NW: What is Holding Hope About?

UJ: Holding Hope is about life, about things we can't change in life. It is also about courage in the midst of pain and suffering. It tells the story about a mother's wish and prayer for her son to be a better person. It’s also about that person who makes u want to be a better man.

NW: What was the inspiration for making the movie?

UJ: I got the inspiration from a true life story I heard about a woman and her battle with cancer

NW: Any preparations you underwent before getting into character?

UJ:I mentally prepared for the role and allowed the character to be. I also slimmed down by 2 sizes to fit in and also went without sleep for some days so I can look ill

NW: What are the challenges you faced playing your character?

UJ: My main challenge was playing the character convincingly because this movie was based on a true life story so to me, Hope was a real person

NW:   Any high and/or low points during the shoot?

A high point for me was when I could feel the cast and crew of Holding Hope were really into the story and committed to getting it right. My low point was when I was shooting the last scenes. I had to shoot for 27 hours non-stop and the director (Desmond Elliot) started his director’s shot. I couldn’t blink and I was so tired that I broke down in tears

NW: What’s it like working with Emem Isong & Desmond Elliot?

UJ: It’s been wonderful. they bought me here! We are together in this journey. Their love and support is my strength! I love them and I always say I'm in school, still learning and will continue to do so to better myself as a person, actress, writer, business person and film maker

NW: Any message for your fans?

UJ: Just be true to yourself. With hard work and dedication, the sky’s the limit. Love you all

HOLDING HOPE premieres on Sunday 8th August 2010 at the Silverbird Cinemas
